At the start of the summer on one of the first warm sunny days of the year me and Carl headed down the the
Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We sadly don't have a garden so have to find other ways to soak up the rays! I'd had loads of recommendations about the park and definitely wasn't disappointed with our day out. Considering entrance to the huge park is free (we had to pay to park) it was a really affordable day out.
After getting parked up we slowly ambled our way down towards the lake, stopping first for me to take some pretty photos in the indoor summer house gardens. The sculptures are dotted throughout the park, some are in-your-face, while some are hidden in rather interesting spots...
After we'd snapped some more pics and tilted our heads in a contemplative way for long enough we headed for a walk around the lake.
We made a friend!
No day out to the YSP would be complete without a picnic so after our stroll we unpacked our lunch and lay around in the sunshine.
Another friend!
After we'd let our mound of ham rolls go down we went on a last stroll through the formal gardens where we discovered the Underground Gallery which is currently housing the Yinka Shonibar 'Fabrication' Exhibition.
We had a really lovely day and highly recommend a visit. We'll definitely be heading back in the autumn. I bet the park looks amazing when all the leaves on the trees turn red and gold.
I went here on a school trip (YEARS ago) and loved it, it's such a pretty place :)
